Featured Speaker: Professor Ari Novy
Plants make up 80 percent of all life on Earth by
mass. How we manage our plants locally and
globally will determine the future health of our
planet and humanity. This lecture will take us on
a journey through the past, present, and future
to explore how gardening our planet can help us
realize a green and hopeful future. Additionally, it will
outline how San Diego Botanic Garden is helping to
safeguard plants for the future and leading exciting
new efforts to ensure that plants can continue to be
used to discover new pharmaceuticals and positively
influence human wellbeing.
Presenter Biography
Ari Novy is President and CEO of the
San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. Previously,
he was Chief Scientist at the Leichtag Foundation,
also in Encinitas. Novy is an Adjunct Associate
Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological
Studies in San Diego. He completed his Bachelor
of Arts degree at New York University and his
doctorate in Plant Biology at Rutgers University.
