Featured Speaker: Richard Kiy, M.P.A.
The 2024 Presidential election will bring into
greater focus key issues of U.S. foreign policy in the
Western Hemisphere, such as human migration,
regional security, economic competitiveness, and
supply-chain resiliency. This lecture will discuss
how changing geopolitics is reshaping the U.S.
relationship with countries across the Americas. It
will highlight the resulting regional impacts for the
San Diego-Baja California border region.
Presenter Biography
Richard Kiy is the President and
CEO of the Institute of the Americas. He has
over 30 years of professional experience in the
public, private, and nonprofit sectors with a Latin
American emphasis. Kiy is the former President &
CEO of the International Community Foundation.
His public sector experience includes having
served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary
and Technical Director at the U.S. Department of
Energy’s Office of Environment, Health & Safety,
as well as the Acting Environmental Attaché at
the U.S. Embassy-Mexico. Kiy is a graduate of
Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in
economics. He also earned a Master’s in Public
Administration from the Harvard Kennedy
School of Government. Kiy is the co-author
of Environmental Management Along North
America’s Borders.
