Advanced Excel for Analysis and Business Intelligence
Excel can be intimidating, complex and confusing with so many features and tools to use. After covering the basics to lay the foundation, this course will move to advanced features of Excel that can be applied in health care data analysis, statistics, and visualization, while building pragmatic solutions to common business problems. This course will follow a problem-solution format to explore data analysis options and cover best-practices for delivering solutions in Excel.

- Pivot table and pivot reporting

- Advanced formatting
- Advanced charting
- Advanced formulas
- Data tables
- Simulations and solver
- Functions
- In cell drop down menu
- Data validation
- Error checking and data monitoring
- Sparklines
- IF statement
- VLOOKUP
- Macro operations
Software: A current and up to date version of Microsoft Excel (2016 recommended).
Course typically offered: Online in Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer (every quarter).
Prerequisites: CSE-41250: Intermediate Excel or an equivalent intermediate mastery of Microsoft Excel.
Next Steps: Upon completion of this class, consider enrolling in other required coursework in the Business Intelligence Analysis Certificate Program.

After working in the mental healthcare field as a financial analyst, he left and started Excel Advice, Inc. in 2012. He studied International Business with American University of Rome, Italy and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with San Diego Community College. Excel Advice, Inc. consults management teams in both the public and private sectors, connecting clients with key developers who help tackle the automation of administrative and compliance centric tasks through the use of various MS Office tools; Excel, Access, Power BI, VBA, Azure and more.
Gilley, Lee
Lee received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 2008. He worked in industrial energy construction for two years before pursuing software consulting and development full time. He's built millions of dollars' worth of software and is passionate about software design, extensibility and user experience. In 2019, Lee launched Docmo: an Excel-based software service providing smart automation for dynamic documents like proposals and SOWs.
