Nature Photography: From Vision to Print

Learn how to take beautiful nature photographs and examine different methods to produce and display them. This practical, hands-on course covers the aesthetics of fine art nature photography as well as fine tuning your technical skills in the field. The class features a variety of field trips designed to offer a wide variety of opportunities and challenges: Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla Cove, San Diego Botanical Gardens, and Balboa Park. Students will learn to identify their creative point of view, sharpen their skills through participation in field trips, and prepare a selected group of images for sale and/or exhibition in a show hosted by the class. Final photographs can be presented either as greeting cards or as matted prints.
Please note: For spring 2021, classes will be taught Tuesday's, 6-9pm live online via Zoom. We are tentaively planning on three outdoor in-person field trips.

Prerequisite: Knowledge of image editing with Picassa, iPhoto, Photoshop or Lightroom recommended. Taking Photo I: Aperture, Shutter Speed, & ISO (ART-40629) prior to this course is strongly recommended.
