Learn From Experts’ Best Practices and Lessons Learned From Years of Implementing the CGCP
This intensive workshop spans two half-days and offers thorough training to help owners and operators of a construction site to fully understand the 2022 Construction General Permit (CGP). The course fee includes materials, instruction by CASQA certified Trainers of Record (ToRs), lunch, refreshments and a Certificate of Completion.
Day One: Construction General Permit Fundamentals, 8:30am - 2:30pm
Gain an understanding to the California Construction General Permit (CGP) 2002-0057-DWQ. Topics include:
- Understanding the Permit: Covered Facilities, Risk Assessment, SWPPPs, and SMARTS
- Legal Perspectives, Complexities, Liabilities and Common Pitfalls.
- Regulator Perspective - Interpretation of the Permit and Upcoming Changes.
- Regulatory Community Perspective

Day Two: Advanced Topics, 8:30am - 2:30pm
The advanced workshop is tailored to students who have attended the orientation seminar or who have a basic understanding of the CGP. Day 2 will focus on:
- Recent Changes to the Permit
- QSD / QSP Responsibilities
- Qualifying Precipitation Events
- Visual Monitoring and Sampling Requirments
- Passive Treatment Technologies / Active Treatment Systems
- Demolition Activities
- TDML Requirements
- Interactive Exercise

This learning experience is intentionally designed as a combination of in-class and web-based instruction. In-class meetings follow the published schedule. Students are also expected to engage with course content online during the published course dates.
Gardiner, Nancy
Nancy has over 25 years of consulting experience in water quality and water resource projects. She is a specialist in stormwater management, with experience in all facets of stormwater compliance for industrial, municipal, construction, and transportation clients. Nancy is a specialist in erosion and sediment control and has assited clients with controlling discharges from construction sites and other disturbed land surfaces.
Nancy holds and AB in Geology from Smith College and an MS in Hydrogeology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Nancy is an IGP trainer of Record and a QISP.
